White Label Networks: Great Marketplace Ministry

One of my favorite daily devotionals is called “TGIF Today God is First” by Os Hillman. A couple of years ago, I learned of Hillman through Church Growth Institute’s daily email devotional, Prime Time With God. Hillman’s writings were the first to clearly confirm what I newly believed to be God’s desire for ministry to go forth in the workplace or marketplace.

During the time I started reading the devotionals, I worked as an analyst at a healthcare corporation’s business office. It was a strange thing when people began to approach me for prayer at work. I soon got the hang of it. Before I resigned, I had teamed with a small group of Christians to start a weekly group bible study during lunch at the facility. The bible study group still exists today!

That scenario could be easily implemented in social media through white label networks. A white label network is a customized social network that can offer premium benefits to its members. White label networks tend to be smaller and more focused than regular social networks like Facebook. Examples of white label networks include Ning networks and Affinity circles.

White label networks are perfect for spreading the gospel in a particular industry. You can now talk on the terms of the work. So, let’s say, you are a doctor. You could join Sermo.com and answer questions in your expertise. Some questions you might even answer from a Christian perspective. Or, if you are a teacher, you could join TeacheAde.com and create or join a group for Christian teachers to provide encouragement to each other. A great conversation starter is to ask your colleagues a “What would you do…” question.

Until next time, remember…
