Do “It” for the People
It’s been a while since I posted my last blog. I initially planned to start another course this month, but God had another plan.
When I started this blog, I hoped to encourage someone to use social media to connect with people for the purpose of building the kingdom of God. Yet, in the past few months, I really couldn’t move forward as I had hoped because my heart was heavily burdened. As heavy as I felt, I sought to know what really caused my weariness.
This is how God spoke to me:
On my way to a church service one evening, I stopped for some fast food. I knew I didn’t NEED it … but I wanted it. I pulled through to the drive-through window and ordered my dinner. In the back of my mind, I felt bad because God had already been dealing with me about eating healthier.
I received my order and got back on the road. At the light, I saw a man holding a sign. Here’s what it said: “HUNGRY.” That’s it; just that one word. I looked at my bag, filled with a hot, fresh cooked meal. I looked at the man and his sign.
I reached over…
grabbed the bag…
and stuffed a french fry in my mouth.
That’s when I knew I had lost “It.”
“It” is that attitude of selflessness — not that I am totally prideful but there is some struggle for self going on here and there. “It” is the willingness to care for others as God cares for them.
God was showing me what really matters to Him. He showed me so that I can be an effective servant in His kingdom. His kingdom consists of people — not networks, not groups, not associations — just people. God cares about people!
In conclusion, you will see a shift in the content and design on this blog soon as I have been called to share the importance of serving others. And, yes, social media is a great tool to help us do just that.
